Hi Everyone, 

Thanks for taking the time to read about our Fundraiser.

I've chosen to fundraise for The Jack & Jill Children's Foundation on behalf of my cousin Paul Bourke and his beautiful family. Attached pictures shows Paul and Ashley with their beautiful daughter Lucia. Lucia meaning "beacon of light". 

Lucia was born in Crumlin in October last and has a rare chromosomal abnormality called 22Q11 syndrome which brings physical and developmental problems, she also has Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia (which means simply complex congenital heart defects).  

Lucia requires 24 hour care and thankfully is doing really well at home. The Jack and Jill Children's Foundation has played a huge part in supporting Paul & Ashley in caring for Lucia, organising nurses to give Paul and Ashley at home support as they care for Lucia and her complex needs. Lucia has a significant heart surgery in the next few months and Paul and Ashley don't know what's around the corner. Lucia is much loved and adored by all her family and friends and in Ashley's words "we are blessed with our beautiful daughter and she is just perfect in our eyes".

This September along with Ben Murphy, Kilfinane (Irish Defence Forces) and Annie Dawson, Elton (Brothers of Charity) we are running the Berlin Marathon and all funds raised here will go directly to The Jack & Jill Children's Foundation for the gorgeous little lady Lucia.
