My Story

I always considered myself healthy, but reality painted a different picture. My rapid weight gain was the first red flag, but it wasn’t until I began experiencing shortness of breath that I realized something was seriously wrong. 

The diagnosis shattered my world. I was battling a viral infection, liver cirrhosis, heart failure with cirrhotic cardiomyopathy, and later, developed bradycardia. 

The doctors began considering a dual organ transplant (liver and heart). Two months later, I found myself on the transplant list for both organs.

After an extensive stay of over six months in the hospital, my condition stabilized enough for me to wait for the transplant call at home. 

My health saw significant improvement; my liver function stabilized, and my heart operated well enough for me to be temporarily removed from the transplant list. I began gearing up for a return to normal life, until a routine clinic appointment led to an unexpected hospital stay due to bradycardia, with my heart rate dropping below 30 bpm at night. Following a two-week hospital stay, an ICD was implanted in my chest, and I was once again listed for a transplant.

Several months later, I received the gift of life.
