We were inspired by the stories of those beating their additctions from last years campaign. We wanted to focus on the role addiction plays in homelessness in Ireland. We can all fall into the trap of assuming that escaping addiction is a simple matter of choice or willpower; of forgetting that our surroundings and circumstances hugely influence the enormity of that challenge.
To remind ourselves, in the smallest possible way, of the challenge of beating an addiction to something that permeates our 'every day', Oonagh, Luke and Adrian are giving up caffeine for 30 days. Please still offer us teas and coffees, and when we say have to say no, consider making a small donation to our team idonate page.
Connor O Kane, unable to beat the bean, is running 100km this month as forfeit!
Dublin Simon Community work to prevent and address homelessness in Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan. We provide services at all stages of homelessness and enable people to move to a place they can call home.
At Simon, we listen to people who turn to us for help and do everything we can to support them to move out of homelessness into independent living. For more information please visit www.dubsimon.ie.
