My name is Andy Nolan, I work for a Medical Device company in Limerick and also lecture part-time in the University of Limerick.
I am on this platform to ask you to "Lob a few BOB" at a fantastic charity.
I like a challenge and to push my limits. Over the last few years, I have been attempting the 7 summits challenge, that is to climb the the tallest peaks on each of the 7 continents. Since 2018, I have been lucky enough to have completed: Kilimanjaro in Africa (5,895m), Elbrus in Europe(5,642m), Aconcagua in South America(6,961m), Denali (McKinley) in North America(6,194m)and Kosciusko in Australia(2,228m). Now, just Vinson Massif in Antarctica(4,892m) and Everest(8,848m) stands in my way of completing this.
When i decided to do Kilimanjaro in 2018 (it was my first time in a tent btw!) , I had no idea the path that trip would take me on and I had zero notions of attempting the 7 summits ( i don't think I knew anything about the challenge at that time tbh).
I always had the mindset that these type of personal endeavors should be used to raise awareness and vital funds for worthwhile charities. For the previous 5 peaks, i have partnered with the Irish Cancer Society and Laura Lynn children's hospice and was able to raise a few quid for both.
Statistically only 14 Irish people have completed the 7 summits, and the global figure is approx. 500-600. For Mt Vinson alone, I think the Irish summit figure is only approx. 28 people. (useful Irish 7 summits stats website here)
As I get ready for Vinson this coming December 2024, I am using this climb to raising funds for the Children's Grief Centre in Limerick.
The Children's Grief Centre provides vital support to young people coping with the loss of a loved one, offering them a safe space to express their feelings and navigate their grief. Their work they do is truly transformative, helping children and teenagers find hope and healing during some of the most challenging times in their lives.
By supporting this charity initiative, you are also supporting these young individuals, helping to ensure that the Children's Grief Centre can continue its essential work. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference.
So I am asking you to " LOB A FEW BOB" please.
Big shout out to Conor Floyd and the guys in the Workshop gym in Newport and Mulcaire CU for partnering with me on this adventure.
Simply click the Donate button above if you can contribute. All donations are processed securely. If you would like to organize a small local event and link it to this one, please do so - every cent matters.
Note that 100% of funds raised go directly to the Children's grief center!

We really appreciate your support.
Try not to break anything this time ;-) Best of luck.
All the best Andy
