‘What is Hurling For Cancer Research?‘
Hurling For Cancer Research was established in 2011 when leading flat trainer and hurling fanatic, Jim Bolger challenged champion jockey Davy Russell and his weigh room colleagues to a game of hurling against him and his staff all in support of raising funds and awareness for cancer research.
Since then, the event has helped raise in excess of €1.6 Million towards an overall investment from the Irish Cancer Society of €30 Million in life-changing clinical trials and cutting-edge cancer research studies. Each year the Society funds over 100 cancer researchers across Ireland, thanks to the support of events such as Hurling For Cancer Research.
