Tallow Church Renovation Fund

Tallow Church Renovation Fund - Why We Require a Major Fundraiser - Please Take a Few Minutes to Read our Parish Newsletter -

Our parish church of the Immaculate Conception requires major renovation, and a committee has been formed, to ensure the necessary repairs are carried out and the funds raised to conduct this very important work. It is envisaged that this project will take four to five years to complete. The costs for the first phase amount to €110,000 and the total cost could rise to approximately €1 million. This is a massive undertaking on behalf of the Tallow Parish, the biggest project ever undertaken in the town or parish. If this project is not carried out, the church will be a health and safety risk to the public and could end up being closed in a few years like many other churches in Ireland in recent times. Some funds have been raised and are available to start Phase 1. The committee is looking at various other methods of raising the necessary finance including grants and the sale of parish property.

Our Church is two hundred years old and is a one-off church that other parishes would love to call their own. It has several stained-glass windows and the beautiful wall mosaics painted by Italian artists sent to Ireland by the Vatican two centuries ago. It is the most important building in our town and parish and its importance cannot be underestimated. It is the place where we were baptized, received our first holy communion, were confirmed, married and where we will spend our last few hours. Our church has the adjoining well-kept graveyard where generations of our families are buried and where many come to visit the church and graves of their loved ones.

We are now requesting our parishioners everywhere to donate to this particularly important project to protect our parish church from further decay as your donation will be the main source of income to finance the project.

We are requesting that parishioners donate on the attached Standing Order form or Envelope Collection, and would urge you donate €5, €10, €15 or €20 per week or €21 per month, as it will give the project the added advantage of reclaiming a tax benefit direct to the funds raised without any additional cost to you, the parishioner. Those in a financial position to donate a higher amount are encouraged to do so if they can afford it. We would also like those people who use the church and graveyard to donate and please inform the parish diaspora around the country and around the world of our need for financial assistance, SO PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD.
