Granlahan Community Centre was purchased in 1982 by the Community for the community. Great credit is due to the people of Granlahan who financed the purchase and the refurbishment of the centre which was offically opened in 1984. A sports field and a childrens play ground have been added over the years. Since then, it has been a hive of activity catering for the needs of a wide range of local organisations and groups ranging from the senior citizens's parties, communion parties, weekly card game, Foroige, Active age, National school events, Michael Glavey's Gaa while also serving as a social meeeying point after many local events.

Traditionally down through the years the community centre was funded in the main by our local sports day and card game with welcome donations coming from the groups mentioned above. Unfortunately, due to Covid 19 these revenues streams are no longer available to us so once again as in 1982 we must turn to the community for fanancial support. The cost of keeping the centre open is in the region of 5,000 euro per annum. This is made up of Insurance, Electricty, Heating oil and gernal maintenance. The financial situation at the moment is that the next bill will exhaust all funds.

We the committee are asking for the community's support to keep our centre open so that it can continue to cater for all our community groups into the future.
