The Break the Cycle campaign aims to raise awareness about mental health in rural Ireland and get people talking. It includes coverage in Irish Country Living throughout September and a bikeathon at the Irish Farmers Journal’s stand at the National Ploughing Championships.
The first step is to talk to someone, whether that is family, friends, or by calling the Aware Support Line. The bikeathon will be an opportunity to start this conversation and to raise funds directly for the Aware Support Line. The Break the Cycle campaign also promotes exercise, a powerful tool to support mental health and well-being.
Farmers, the public, media and ministers will be invited to participate in the bikeathon to support the Break the Cycle campaign. Each day the Aware Support Line receives approximatenly 80 calls and so our aim is to cycle 80 km on each bike each day of the Ploughing. With three bikes that’s a targeting a total of 720 km.
All funds raised here will go directly to Aware.
