The mission of the organisation is to empower Lions clubs, volunteers, and partners to improve health and well-being, strengthen communities, and support those in need through humanitarian services and grants that impact lives globally, and encourage peace and international understanding.

All funds raised are distributed locally. Christmas is the most active time with the annual Christmas food appeal being our biggest annual fundraiser. Other annual fund raising events include Christmas cards, Christmas concert, Stephen's Day Mile and table quiz.

Local people are in the best position to identify local needs. All funds raised are distributed locally and there are no administration costs as members pay an annual fee to join.

Loughrea Lions club was founded in 1983 to serve the local community. It consists of a group of volunteers who give up their free time to organise fundraising and community events in Loughrea, Co. Galway, Ireland.
