I am sailing solo, in one of the smallest boats ever to attempt sailing around all of Ireland. The boat is a laser dinghy, weighing less than 57 kg and not much longer than your average kitchen table! The challenge will take up to 8 weeks to complete and will involve dealing with everything from rough seas to difficult currents. The 'Solo Sail Ireland' Challenge starts May 27th from Galway Bay Sailing Club, Renville, Oranmore, Galway.
I have chosen Croi because my family and I have experienced the seriousness of not having timely access to a defibrillator, and I know how important they can be in saving lives. Money raised will specifically help fund defibrillators in areas most needed in the community and support Croi in preventing cardiovascular disease and stroke. Cardiovascular disease remains Ireland’s number one killer, but is largely preventable. I hope my efforts go some of the way at least, to making a practical and real difference in preventing so many unnecessary deaths.
