CJ’s Rainbow Charity Cycle is all about raising funds for two amazing charities that have helped our family enormously since our childhood cancer journey began. Our little boy, C.J., was diagnosed with ATRT, a rare and aggressive type of brain cancer, in November 2022. After almost a year of treatment, teaching us life lessons every day through his captivating smile, C.J. passed away peacefully in our arms on October 15th. This cycle will remember the bravery and strength of our little boy, while helping families through their journey.
I (C.J.’s Daddy) and a group of enthusiastic volunteers (well not all of them – but most!) will take on a gruelling 619km cycle from Malin Head, Donegal to Mizen Head, Cork this August. In doing so, we want to raise awareness of the challenges of childhood cancer and, most importantly, to raise money for Hand-in-Hand and Oscars Kids charities!
We plan to cycle an average of 150km over four consecutive days from August 22nd to August 26th; that’s Roscommon town to Croke Park four days in a row! We hope to raise €100,000 to help other families like us who are trying to cope and juggle life in the challenging world of childhood cancer.
Best of luck with the cycle and fundraising Niamh x
